One wok. Two homelands.
Hong Kong and Thai street food, cooked hot to order on Back Road, Siargao.
Wokaway is a small open-fronted kitchen on Back Road in Catangnan, General Luna. A Dutch and Filipino couple who spent thirty years in Hong Kong cook the food of both their homes here: Cantonese wonton noodles and Yang Chow fried rice on one side of the menu, Thai holy basil beef and tom yum soup on the other. Everything is cooked to order in one wok, for ₱280 to ₱320 a dish.
Two cities, one wok
The menu is short on purpose. Ten dishes, half of them Cantonese and half of them Thai, each one cooked the way it was learned rather than the way it travels.
its a good day for a good day at wokaway.

A handful of tables, open to the road
There are three round terracotta tables and a long bench under a thatched roof, a few rattan chairs, and a fan. You order at the counter, you sit down, and it comes out when it is ready.
Dogs are welcome. So are children. There is a shake of the day, blended fresh.
How to find usThere is a garden behind the kitchen
Past the counter there is a second place to sit: a timber deck under a pergola, long benches, and planting on every side. It is shaded in the afternoon and strung with lights after dark.
If the front tables are full, or you would rather be out of the road noise, ask and take your food through.
